When the dildo saw the light of day for the first time, it was considered to be a medical tool to cure women from hysteria. Fortunately, we have come a long way since then. The diagnosis of hysteria has been removed and today it is completely normal to have sex toys in the nightstand. Every other Briton has tried using a sex toy while 2 out of 5 Britons own one or more sex toys.In the 1800’s doctors were already warning about the addictive effect of dildos. And we can relate. Because sex toys have quite the effect. Britons, who own sex toys, tend to be more satisfied with their sex lives, than those who don’t.
If you look across the country, it is clear, that there is a lot of gold hiding in the nightstands – especially in Northeast England and the East Midlands while those on Northern Ireland and in Greater London are holding back a bit more. And if your name is David or Sarah, then there is a good chance that there are sex toys in your nightstand.
One thing is sure under all circumstances: The vibrator comes in on a solid first place on the list of most used sex toys across all the countries in the Sindex.

About Sindex by Sinful
The Sindex maps out how Britons feel about relationships, intimacy, and sex. The Sindex is published by Sinful.
All figures and numbers in Sindex are based on an international population survey and sales data from Sinful.
The population survey was conducted in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, France, and the United Kingdom with a total of 12,000 respondents – 2,000 in each country. Data were collected via Cint in the period 17 May to 8 June 2022. The survey was sent out to a representative sample in relation to gender, age, and region. Full representativeness is ensured through subsequent weighting of the data.
